Dark Horse is the sixth studio album by Canadian rock band Nickelback, released on November 18, 2008 (a day earlier in Europe). The follow-up to their multi-platinum selling All the Right Reasons released in 2005, the album was co-produced by the band and Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter Robert John “Mutt” Lange, famous for working with such acts as AC/DC, Bryan Adams, Def Leppard and Shania Twain. The first single from the album was “Gotta Be Somebody”, which was released online for free download on September 29, 2008 for a strict 24-hour period. “If Today Was Your Last Day” was the originally planned lead single but was scrapped at the last minute. The track “Something in Your Mouth” became available for download from the U.S. iTunes store on October 28, and will be released to U.S. rock radio as the second single from the album on December 15. The exclusive Wal-Mart edition of Dark Horse comes with a link to download an MP3 from their performance of “This Afternoon” on Walmart Soundcheck. Many of the albums songs have hit the Canadian Hot 100, such as “Shakin Hands”, “If Today Was Your Last Day” “I’d Come For You”, “Never Gonna Be [...]

Freedom is the third studio album by singer, Akon. The album was originally named Acquitted. It was released on December 2, 2008, and as a digital download on December 1. Production on the album began in late 2007 and ended in late summer 2008.Originally the album was to be called Acquitted, but was later confirmed to be Freedom by Akon’s label, Universal Music. In July, a leaked recording of Akon’s duet with Michael Jackson titled “Hold My Hand” was released to the internet and at first showings of the song was supposedly taken out by Akon’s music label. The song was originally posted as an Akon demo with only Akon performing the song. The leaked song was rumored to be featured on both his and Michael’s own upcoming album. In an interview with MTV, Akon was hopeful to include the song on the album. However, on October 17, Akon’s label released information on the tracklisting and the album does not feature the duet with Jackson.
